Tab linking question

I am using the tabs on different pages. My problem i encounter is i want users to be able to go back to the same tab when they hit the back button after leaving page. So i used the persist feature. Problem is on if they click to go to a different page with tabs, the same tab opens. If i use just linking to a certain section it takes them to the tab, but need it to stay at the top? Any way to fix this?

The current version is not capable for that.

The advanced version, jQuery Tabs, allows adding hash id to the URL so that clicking on the browser's backward / next button will navigate back/forth to the tab in history.
